It had already gotten to be June and the tent was still rolled up downstairs. So when AV and Ake suggested a trip up to Champex Lac, we didn't hesitate. The boys were very happy to be up in the mountains with Alexander and Christopher. First order of business - build a dam.
But they are getting too good. They don't need their daddy any more - so all I can do is look on. They did a good job. Well - a pretty good job. I mean I could have helped them out a bit. If they'd let me. I'm not bitter. Really.
Then they had to observe some of the local wildlife. I'm not sure exactly what they are looking at here but it clearly is fascinating. Wait - I think they are actually dividing up the Menthos stash. Hmm.
Between catching bugs and picking purple flowers, we would have stayed all summer, except...
We had the canoe on top of the car! And this is a lake after all. So of course we put in. Here Alexander and Christopher test the waters with me. It was sufficiently good that Ake had to rent another canoe so we could all paddle together.
And who wouldn't want to, in such surroundings. Of course only later did I realize its a private lake, and that my canoe isn't registered with the appropriate Swiss permit to paddle. Fortunately the Reads were faster than the Swiss authorities, at least that day.
Normally, I would call it on the photos from this trip - but I just have two more shots that are too good not to share. Here AV and TT share a 'girls moment'.
And here Lyell and Mason share a 'boys moment'.
It was all good and we're already looking forward to our next camping trip with the Ohlssons. |
