Chateau D'Oex

There is a little village about 90 minutes from us which is quiet all the year through, except during the Chateau D'Oex Balloon Festival.  That is when both the Reads and the Scotsmen show up.

Its quite lovely, as every few minutes, a colorful balloon ascends above the white peaks.

After a few of those, however, the boys said that it was time to head for the sledding hill.  So much for exotic activities.  However, you can see the smile it draws.

Having passed the afternoon in the sleds, the boys were simply too exhausted to make it through the parking lot, and had to be towed.

However, when it was time to visit the chocolate shop in Gstaad where we stopped on our way home for a dinner of crepes, turns out their legs had recovered.  Miraculous.

By the way - if you look closely at both boys, you will see a condition we term "Swiss Truffle Cheek".  Its not contagious.
