Crater Lake

On our way to Crater Lake we stopped at the Rogue River Valley Gorge.  It is a very steep narrow gorge that was cut by water running through underground lava tubes.  Believe it or not, the river is between us and the trees you see behind us.

We then arrived at the Crater Lake Lodge.  Wow.  What a great spot.  It is the only building visible on the edge of the crater and was recently redone so it is very comfortable.

Grampa Read was inspired by the beauty of Crater Lake to try a few art shots and I think that this one is a winner!

Meanwhile I made sure that Lyell got a good early morning view of the lake (please note that he is still in his sleeper)...

If any of you are on the fence about whether or not to visit Crater Lake - I would definitely say it is worth the drive.
