Helsinki, Part 2

The market is on the edge of the harbor.  But the Finns are a resourceful lot.  No point letting a little water interfere with commerce.  The boats pull up and sell (terrific) fish right out of the stern!

From the harbor, we went over to Fort Suomenlinna.  The boys and I shelled the islands off Helsinki.

But enough culture.  Enough shopping.  The boys found a lego exhibition.  Picture this.  A room the size of a gymnasium.  20-gallon buckets of Legos of every imagineable size and shape lining an entire wall.  A race track along the other wall where you could race your Lego car creations.  And in the middle, countless folding tables, piled high with Legos just for the building.  Nirvana

The only hard part is that we had to leave, because we had a train to catch.

And not just any train.  The "Santa Claus Express"!  Straight to the Arctic Circle, baby.

Given the snow they must encounter in the winter, the cars which carry automobiles are covered.  I needed Lyell to make sure the canoe would fit.

Just barely.  Its hard to see in this photo, but there was only about 2 inches between the canoe and the roof!

But we were off on another overnighter.  Fold out beds.  The click click of the tracks.  Life is good.
