Mt Tendre

Spring came early in Switzerland this year, so instead of some late season skiing, we decided to get some early season climbing in.  Switzerland is home to many mountain ranges.  And while you might know of the Alps, we wanted something more remote.  So we headed to the Jura.  And not just the Jura - but the tallest peak in the Jura - Mt Tendre.  Off we go!

And what would any Swiss mountain be without detailed trail markings, and directions for where to get a glass of wine.  Cheers.

We did manage to find snow - certainly the last of the season.

And also some rocks to do a little scrambling.

With that grin - Mason is going to be quite a climber - though I dont know how he will fit in - most of them look so serious.

Cuckoo - thats the expression for spinning your hand by the side of your head while rolling your eyes as Mason is doing here.  But cuckoo we are not.  Mt Tendre lives up to its name.  Quite tender.  The peak is only 5,500 feet in elevation (1679 meters) and so we made it easily (the photo on the cover page is us at the top).

And got down with enough energy so that the boys still were ready to play civil engineering games in the river at the bottom.

As nice day - thank you Jura!
