RainierUp

Summer in Seattle would hardly be complete without an assault on Rainier.  Here is a shot taken from the parking lot on the day before our climb.  It doesn't look so bad, does it?

And of course it starts every so nicely.  The wildflowers were out in force - it was a beautiful time to be on the mountain.

After a brief climb, here is Camp Muir, at about 10,000'.  A warm and welcome sight to all that come this way.  Could someone please whip me up a latte?!

Life at Camp Muir is always busy - everyone has something important to do.

Here is the view of Camp Muir from above.  I'm pretty sure that the mountain in the background is Mt. St. Helens - but I might regret saying that.  Our tent was yellow, the third in from the right.  Cozy!

We had a little dinner, and hit the hay at about 6:00pm, with our alarms set for 10:30pm.  We wanted to get a good early start because it was so warm that we wanted to do most of our climb during the night when the snow was as cold and solid as possible.
