Sailing Camp Continued

Now Ill be first to suggest that if you got your fill of sailing on the last page, that you go ahead and zip down to the bottom and hit next.  But if you didnt, you surely will with this page.  For the connoisseur, there are some details here not included in the previous page.  Starting with the start.  The first step to all our sailing adventures means getting boys, boats and gear down to the lake.

And, while keeping thumbs up, getting the boats all rigged just right.

Once youve gotten your boat all set up, the next thing to do is get out there and test that ever important functionality - the capsize.

Then get a little warmed up working the boat to windward.  Ideally, hiking it flat.

Of course being careful not to hike too far and end up in the water on the windward side.

Same goes for the brother.  Get a little warmed up before getting to the hard stuff.

I call this shot "Perfect Trim".  The Laser is designed to sail fastest when she sits perfectly level in the water, so youve got to use your bod, the entire 30KG of it, to keep the boat flat and harness the wind.  As demonstrated below.

And when all goes well, the thumbs are still up at the end when its time to take the whole works apart and head back up the hill.

Whoee!  What a way to spend a summer.
