We wanted an adventure. And as if last summer's trip
to Scandinavia was not sufficient excitement, we packed up the station wagon
on the third of August, and headed for Turkey. As you will see on the
links below, we got what we wanted and then some.

Put on a cool shirt, buckle up and come with us through 12 countries, more
than 6,000 miles, and the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul!
- The trip all started innocently enough, with TT and the boys taking a train
from Austria to Edirne, Turkey
- And after the three reconnected with the father in Istanbul, we went to Pamukkale
on the way to Gocek
- In Gocek, we met the three other families in our flotilla, and took to the
open seas in the finest tradition
- After sailing, we headed to Cirali to see the
chimera, with a stop at the market in Finike
- And then from there, we were off to Bodrum, but
had an emergency stop in Denizli to buy a carpet
- And as if we had not seen enough Roman ruins, our next stop was Ephesus
(or Efes in Turkish)
- Then north to the ferry (which we barely made) so we could spend a few days back in Istanbul
- After we had bought all we could at the Grand Bazaar, it was time to begin
the (long and adventurous) drive home
- But we were not done! In Croatia, we stopped in Dubrovnik
(below) and made our contribution to the policeman's ball in Split before we caught the ferry to Italy
Oh - and if you are a customs official from an eastern european country
looking for a VW station wagon from Switzerland, this is not the site you are
looking for. Really. We suggest you check out
