The flurries first drove the grandparents in from their tour of the Christmas Fairs in Germany. Not having had enough - they headed to the Christmas Fair right here in Montreux. Its a pretty good view of the lake from the top of the Ferris Wheel.
From there, it was off to Villars for fondue. Lyell, Mason and I sledded down the entire way from the top of the train to the village of Villars - it was an awesome sunset sled ride that lasted nearly an hour. Luckily we were all well fueled up on good Swiss cheese.
And then came Christmas. Needless to say, the Lego Corporation played a feature role in our holiday. Faced with the Lego 8454 Rescue Truck (more pieces than were used to build the Golden Gate Bridge), Lyell would literally have sat in this position and worked on it until complete, had we not dragged his focused bod off for an occasional meal or sleep.
Mason took a break from Lego to play some trucks with cousin Will. Once a boy, always a boy.
Another highlight for me was that the family came and had lunch at the IMD restaurant! It was great for them to visit me at work, and an extra surprise when the boys showed up in ties. Don't tell them - but there no way that I'm putting on a tie for work!
After all that excitement - its a good idea to settle into the couch with Grampa Ron for a good book,...
Or into the kitchen table with your sister for a shared earbud and the latest episode of Weeds. You see what youth must resort to when there is no TV in the house.
Well - the flurries blew through, and 2008 is now upon us. It was a terrific holiday. Thank you to all of you visitors for turning our Christmas into a Christmas party - and Happy New Year to all! |
